Christian cross symbolism explained
Symbol
of Christianity, the Christian cross is a symbol of the great love
Jesus Christ felt for the world. On it, he was executed by the governor
of
Judea. This was called crucifixion - he was hung on the cross and
left to die. The story doesn't end there, though. He was risen from
the dead
for our sins. According to 1 Peter 1:3, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his
abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead." It is through this miracle that we are forgiven. Therefore, this magnificent
symbol of the Christian cross is very powerful.
